Survive and Thrive Weekend for adults (ages 21+) with type 1 diabetes is a social weekend offering a balance of relaxation and fun with interactive education. It include aspects designed to empower adults with type 1 diabetes and include a line-up of speakers who are knowledgeable about living with diabetes as an adult.

CONNECT  -  RE-ENERGIZE  - GROW

  • EDUCATION - Interactive Educational Sessions facilitated by professionals in their individual fields.

  • CONNECTION - Meet and connect with other adults with type 1 diabetes; share and learn from others.

  • FUN! Enjoy fun evening socials & camp activities such as bonfires, zip lining, crafts, archery, boating, and more!

  • RELAXATION - Relax and unwind with a private or chair massage offered by a licensed Massage Therapist.

  • FRIDAY
    1:00 pm-Early Check-In begins. For anyone who would like to stretch their legs after the drive, you are welcome to take a walk along Todd's Trail, or venture a little further off-site for a longer hiking or biking trail.
    4:00 pm-6:00 pm - Regular Check In
    6:00 pm - tour of Camp Nejeda
    6:30 pm - Dinner
    7:30 pm - Interactive Social activity to kick off the weekend

    SATURDAY
    2 Whole Group Sessions
    2 Breakout Sessions with several topics to choose from
    Enjoy fun camp activities such as zip-lining, boating, swimming, and painting!
    Meals and snacks throughout the day
    Relax with a Professional Massage (Additional Fee applies)
    Time in the evening to socialize or relax around a bonfire, weather permitting

    SUNDAY
    2 Breakout Sessions with several topics to choose from
    Enjoy some more fun camp activities such as zip-lining, archery, and low ropes course!
    Relax with a Professional Massage (Additional Fee applies)
    The weekend will conclude after Lunch

  • Pricing includes housing, meals, snacks, and the full program including all activities with the exception of massage therapy. A $30 discount can be applied for Camp Nejeda Alumni participants, including those who have previously participated in a Survive & Thrive Weekend.

    Options include:

    • Full Weekend (Friday-Sunday), Health Center Accommodations: $250

    • Full Weekend (Friday-Sunday), Cabin Accommodations: $220

    • Full Weekend, No Accommodations: $175

    • Saturday Only: $150

    Program costs will be fully refundable up until 1 month before the start of the program. After that time, refunds will be made only at the discretion of the Camp Nejeda Foundation.

  • Health Center: Rooms in the temperature-controlled Helmsley Health Center have limited availability and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Two rooms on the first floor of the Health Center are handicap accessible. Please contact barbara@campnejeda.org or 973-383-2611 x221 to request a handicap-accessible room.

    Cabins: Experience the charm of camp! Camper cabins are not temperature controlled and sleep 4-6 participants. They are equip with a half bath and are a short walking distance to the shower building.

    If you do not wish to stay on-site, but would like to stay close by, here are some nearby hotels for your convenience:

    • Econo Lodge, Newton NJ (8 miles)

    • Holiday Motel, Andover NJ (9 miles)

    • Holiday Inn Express & Suites, Sparta NJ (9 miles)

    • Holiday Inn, Budd Lake NJ (17 miles)

    • Residence Inn, Mount Olive NJ (17 miles)

  • Participants are encouraged to pack comfortable, casual attire and include warmer clothing for evenings and outdoor activities. Layers work best! A full packing list will be provided in the weeks preceding the program.

    *Cabins are not heated and temperatures drop at night. Please pack a sleeping bag and/or sheets and extra blankets. In the event that the weather is unseasonably cold, Camp Nejeda will provide additional heat sources in the cabins.


Plus 1 Day

for adults 21+ with t1D & Their significant Other
September 21, 2024

Plus 1 Day is an opportunity for adults with type 1 diabetes to share Camp Nejeda with their significant other. This day includes your favorite camp activities such as boating, zip-lining, and archery, but also integrates opportunities for education and support from those in the same shoes. From 10am-7pm, participants can expect exciting activities, group bonding, a workshop or two with fantastic speakers, and of course, a closing bonfire.

$200 per couple to participate in the program
$300 per couple to stay overnight
