hi , my name is Gabryella . I am 15 years old , I'm a sophomore in high school , and I am also a type 1 diabetic. This means my body no longer produces insulin, a key part in turning the sugar you eat , into energy. I have had diabetes for 6 years .
For a long time, I thought there weren't many kids like me out there. However, my mom found a wonderful place called Camp Nejeda. At first, I did not want to go. The thought of being away from home for two weeks was a little scary, and I was missing another camp, so I could attend my first session at camp. However, when I arrived I immediately felt welcome and as if I belonged there . I returned this summer for another session and I already can't wait for next summer. going to camp Nejeda has been the highlight of my summer for two years already, and hopefully many more. My favorite thing about camp is that I don't get homesick at all because I feel like it's a second home.
It would mean so much to me and my family at Nejeda if you'd kindly donate so that someone else, that cannot afford to go, has the opportunity to feel welcomed and not alone.
