Independence Weekend October 18-20, 2013
A weekend program for young adults (ages 17-21) with diabetes!
Camp Nejeda has always been known as a great summer camp for children for diabetes. During our summer programs we give youth the opportunity to live for one or two weeks in a world where having diabetes is the norm.
After leaving high school (and possibly again after college) those young adults do not always have the support system of their parents or caregivers right there with them. And this is in addition to the challenges and changes that come with leaving their familiar and comfortable environments!
This program is designed to provide a forum of “safe independence” where young adults are given the opportunity to talk with other young adults—some who are in the same situation and some who have already gone through it–about this exciting (and sometimes scary) time of life.
