2016 LIT Program A: July 10-22, 2016
2016 LIT Program B: July 24 - Aug. 5, 2016

Our Leaders In Training (LIT) Program is designed to develop and refine the skills so important to being a successful camp counselor and citizen.

Camp Nejeda's Leaders-In-Training (LIT) Program offers young people an opportunity to develop leadership skills; to indentify and achieve their goals; to learn how to effectively lead children, particularly in the camp setting; and to participate in activities not generally available to other Nejeda campers.

In addition to learning and observing the qualities of good leaders, Nejeda's LITs also participate in regular Camp Nejeda activities and plan an entire day of activities for the camp community to enjoy. LITs keep journals to share with their LIT Directors and fellow LITSs in order to learn from everyone's experiences

While participating in the LIT Program is not a requirement to become a staff member at Camp Nejeda, a key advantage to the LIT program is the direct knowledge of what is expected of a Camp Nejeda staff member and the staff application process.

For more information on the LIT program please call 973-383-2611 or email info@campnejeda.org

INSTRUCTIONS FOR APPLYING TO BE A CAMP NEJEDA LEADER IN TRAINING

A message from Uncle Jim:

Dear Senior Campers (15 year olds)

Again in 2016, we will invite a limited number of sixteen year old campers to return as participants in our “Leaders-in-Training” Program (LIT).  The program is designed as the first step in becoming a junior counselor.  The fee for this program is the same as a regular two week camp session.  The campers who apply and are selected as LITs are also welcome to attend the 14 - 16 year-old Session 4 in 2016.

If you are interested in applying for the 2016 LIT program, and you are a non-smoker, please following the instructions below:

1. Write a letter explaining why you would like to be a 2016 LIT candidate and what you feel you can offer to camp.

2. Include a completed LIT application (download the LIT application here)

3. Include a recent photo of you

4. Include 3 letters of reference from counselors, school teachers, employers or other supervisors.

All of the above must be received at camp by January 15, 2016.

Your past experiences at Camp Nejeda, along with the application and letters of reference, will be evaluated and a personal or phone interview will be arranged in late January.  The selected LITs will be notified of their acceptance in early February of 2016.

Remember, even if you are not selected as part of the program in 2016, you may still apply as a camper for session 4.  If you are selected for the LIT program, more information will be sent to you.

2016 Camping Dates are:

LIT Program A: July 10 to July 22, 2016

LIT Program B: July 24 to Aug. 5, 2016

Session 4 (14 to 16 yr. olds): Aug. 7 to Aug. 19, 2016

Have a great year at school and don’t forget to write to me at camp before Dec. 30, 2015.

Your friend,

Uncle Jim
